CAMERON! The only reason I am semi-okay with you moving is that you’re moving to Florida. I’ll definitely be visiting come I’m too pale to look in the mirror season. Which seems to already be here so… see you next week. Just kidding, but make sure you go adventure as much as you can and find the best places to kayak so when we come down we can see all your favorite spots! You bring us the warmth and I’ll bring the dessert.
I commandeered a kitchen to bake this scrumptious S’mores cake. I think that Brett’s dad was a little peeved that I did this. The main reason being that he didn’t get a piece of the cake. It also didn’t help that I disturbed his Hallmark movie while beating the buttercream. Even though he was a little put out, I was grateful to have the opportunity to bake in such a beautiful kitchen. It probably contributed to how well the cake turned out!
The most important thing in making any cake for a friend that is leaving you is to make sure that they think it tastes/looks good. I think I succeeded in this and hope that it will be a good reminder of the sweets that he’ll be missing :). All Joking aside, I am extremely excited for you Cam. I know that this opportunity will bring you great things and am excited for you and Mari! You have been talking about Florida and moving there for as long as I have known you. I am so glad that you are actually doing it and trying to figure out if it’s everything you want it to be. I can’t think of anyone else that is more equipped to be called a Floridian than you. I see great things in your future… and mine… because I really can’t deal with the pale.
This cake consisted of three layers of cinnamon graham cracker cake joined with a cinnamon graham cracker buttercream. It was covered with a layer of dark chocolate ganache and adorned with a marshmallow drip. I attempted to toast the marshmallow drip, but wasn’t able to give it that golden look. Although, it did get a little more of a crunchy texture. Brett was there to sniff it out to make sure it didn’t end up tasting like butane. He also gave the toasting a crack because he is fascinated by fire so the mini blow torch captivated him. I’m looking forward to my next bake that will allow me to successfully use my new kitchen torch.
